I provide responsive and strategic guidance to parents through consultation and coaching, and develop action plans and tools to successfully integrate children and individuals into every-day settings. I offer a suite of services to support families at home and in the classroom.

About Me and Services Offered

I have been working with special needs children since 1998 with a specific focus on behaviour management and autism for nearly 15 years. I offer a unique blend of hands-on experience, extensive knowledge of the education system and supports in Ontario, and professional training and certifications. I am happy to work in-person (in-home), remotely, or hybrid to best suit the needs of families.

I am a dedicated professional specializing in providing purposeful and customized one-on-one support to families. I take pride in helping children and individuals in need, and enjoy knowledge sharing to better the lives of others. I am married with two young daughters to whom I teach the value of hard work, the importance of helping others, and empathy.

I have trained through the Geneva Centre for Autism, am certified in Applied Behaviour Analysis for Educators (ABA), Autism Intervener and Registered Behaviour Technician, Certified Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) trainer, and a Nurtured Heart (NHA) Practitioner. I also have extensive experience in supporting families to navigate the educational system in Ontario (School based supports, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Board policies, etc).

Caregiver and Parent Coaching

I work with parents, caregivers and families to provide and implement support and strategies to promote a healthy, thriving family environment and ensure bright futures for children with challenging behaviours.

Having a child with neurosdiversities and presenting with complex behaviours can be a challenging and disruptive time for any family. I can help you understand that every behaviour is a communication and has a function. I can assist in finding the function of behaviours and meeting those needs while promoting the understanding of what outside factors may be contributing to challenging behaviours.

This will be done with a hands on approach, getting to know the family as a whole and demonstrating and coaching along the way.

I will fill your "tool box" with strategies, tools, tips, and best practices - to be used on their own, or as a complement to other behaviour services.

Navigating the Education System

Understanding policies and supports from educators can be challenging. I work with parents and educators to create harmonious and effective communication approaches between school and home, and ensure that parents are being communicated with in a clear and timely manner.

Every child needs a champion. I can be that supportive and understanding person having been in the education system for over a decade. I am pleased to share my knowledge and experience and provide parents the guidance needed to understand the system, supports available to them, and work on behalf of families to ensure your child is best supported.

When a child received a diagnosis or is being presented with a lagging skill, it can be overwhelming for any parent to deal with. I can assist with navigating and understanding school based supports and programs and support with creating a home based program to compliment.

Autism Support Services

I have experience and a passion for working with individuals on the spectrum.

Through a skills based approach, observations, interviews and one on one sessions, I will get to know your child's strengths and needs. In consultation with the family I will develop a support plan, set goals and work together to create a successful environment for your child.

I will work with outside agencies (including School Boards) and supports to create consistency and to help transfer and generalize skills to the home environment.

Behaviour Support Services (ABA and NHA)

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence based practice that is devoted to the understanding and improvement of human behavior. It starts with observing behaviour and collecting data to determine the ABC’s. That is antecedent, behaviour and consequences. This approach recognizes that every behaviour has a function, it could be escape, avoidance, attention or sensory. We can work together to determine the function and then find an acceptable replacement and extinguish the unwanted behaviour. I have been trained to deliver ABA from the Geneva Centre for Autism.

The Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) gives energy acknowledgement, recognition and appreciation to positivity and success. It teaches us not to accidentally reward negative behaviour with connections and big reactions while setting and enforcing clear expectations and boundaries. It is a connection based approach. I can coach, demonstrate and practice with your family and child. I have been trained to deliver the NHA from Heart Lifting Solutions.
